From Fr. Mark
These are unprecedented times. Not being able to attend Mass and receive the Eucharist is foreign to us, but here we are. A positive spin is that the absence of it in our lives will make us appreciate it and long for it all the more. In the meantime, we can unite ourselves to the Lord by making a Spiritual Communion. Use the prayer below. As you watch one of the virtual online Mass opportunities listed to the right, at the time when you would normally receive communion recite this prayer.
Spiritual Communion Prayer
“My Jesus, I believe that you’re present in the Holy Sacrament. I love You above all else, and I desire You in my soul. As long as I can’t receive You sacramentally, at least enter spiritually into my soul.”
(brief pause to unite oneself with Jesus)
“Since you’ve come, I embrace you and unite my entire self with You; don’t let me ever separate myself from You.”
The Diocese of Wilmington has set up a separate website for information on the Corona Virus. cdow.org/coronavirus
You can also reach it by going to the diocesan website at www.cdow.org.
The Dialog will not be printed but is available online at the above web address. They have been posting relevant articles on how the virus is effecting our local area.
Our weekly bulletin will not be printed until we are back to normal and can once again have Sunday Masses.
I know that financially these are difficult times filled with uncertainty. Churches (Holy Family included) rely on peoples’ generosity to operate and to continue the mission and ministry of the Church. I ask that those of you who make weekly donations to Holy Family to not forget to continue to make those donations even though we are not able to gather as a community on Sundays. You can mail them or drop them off at the parish office during regular office hours.
I thank all of you who have chosen online giving. It helps us tremendously to know that we can count on that income every month. I encourage those who have not tried online giving to give it some thought and prayer. It is safe and secure and easy to activate. Call our Business Manager Judy Stives at 302-368-4665 or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org and she will be happy to get you signed-up for online giving.
Scrip for grocery stores is also a great way to continue to support the parish. Scrip for grocery stores is still available through the parish office.
Those of you who are reading this – if you could spread the word to your family and friends to visit our website. I’m not a social media person so I’m relying on those of you who are to spread the word.
Lastly, if you know of someone who needs assistance you can let us know. We may not be able to help them but we may have the information to refer them to someplace that can help.
Take care of yourselves and one another. Pray and know that God has not abandoned us. He is in the fray with us. Be assured of my prayers for all of you and my remembrance of all of you at the altar as I continue to offer Mass privately.
God Bless you all.
