Parish Outreach Office
The Parish Outreach Office is located in the Parish House. Parish Outreach serves as a resource for parishioners who need help with daily living.  People interested in serving the community are encouraged to volunteer.

Social Concerns Committee
Holy Family Social Concerns Committee seeks to recognize and minister to the needs of our parish and community following the example of Jesus. We are committed to actively engaging and promoting the Works of Mercy, advocacy, justice education and solidarity with and for all members of the human family.

Health Ministry/Parish Nursing Program
The Parish Nurse Volunteer is an experience registered nurse who has spirituality-based training.  The Parish Nurse supports the healing ministry of the church through health education, counseling, interpreting relationships between health and faith and providing referrals to other community resources. Parish Nursing promotes and understanding of the relationships between lifestyle attitudes, faith and healing.  The Health Ministry Program provides special services including, visits to the homebound, blood pressure screening and health education presentations.

Emmanuel Dining Room
A group of parishioners cooks and serves a lunchtime meal at the Emmanuel Dining Room the second Thursday of each month. Our parish community is asked to bring desserts to the church hall on the Wednesday before, which are then served to the needy.

Hope Dining Room
On the first Wednesday of every month, a group of parishioners cooks and serves a lunchtime meal at Hope Dining Room. The parish reimburses the group for the food purchased.  The Hope Dining Room is located at the Kingswood Methodist Church and serves 13,000 meals per year, averaging 66 meals each day that the dining room is open.

Habitat for Humanity Coordination
Holy Family parishioners volunteer to help build houses in the area for the homeless. They offer monetary assistance, make lunches, and do a variety of other jobs to support this effort.

Bread for the World — Advocacy
Once a year the people of our parish write letters to congress in an ecumenical effort to help those who do not have enough to eat. The legislation is sometimes on a domestic issue and other times on an issue concerning the poor of another part of the world.

Prison Ministry
The focus of this ministry is writing letters to, or visiting prisoners and advocacy to end the death penalty in Delaware.

Work of Human Hands
Once a month at the parish coffees, the youth of our parish sell crafts made in third-world countries after the weekend liturgies. The money goes directly to the world’s poorest people.

Lazarus Committee
Families who have experienced the death of a loved one can turn to the Lazarus Committee for assistance with the many tasks that face them during this most difficult time. In the role of greeter, volunteers provide a warm welcome to family and friends attending the funeral.  They are also available to assist the family with any special needs that may arise during the funeral.  The Prayer Team members of the Lazarus Committee keep the deceased and their family members in prayer adding another level of comfort during this most difficult time.  Opportunities are available for Special Ministers of the Eucharist and Lectors to serve at the funeral.  Lazarus volunteers may help with hosting a luncheon after the funeral, which might include providing homemade foods or setting up and cleaning up the parish hall.  If needed, volunteers also provide house-sitting or transportation services for the family.

Bereavement/Grief Support
The Bereavement/Grief Support Group meets once each month to provide a safe and needed space for support after the loss of a loved one. The meetings are facilitated by medical and counseling professionals. We have also initiated a phone contact available for three months after the loss of a loved one, in order to provide a personal Holy Family contact.

Card Ministry
Volunteer card writers provide their time and talent to prepare cards to be sent to the sick or homebound members of our parish as well as sympathy and thinking of you cards to families who have experienced the death of a loved one.

St. Vincent de Paul
St. Vincent de Paul is a group of Catholic men and women, 18 years and older, who keep a food bank filled with donated food to give to the needy.  St. Vincent de Paul Society also meets the emergency needs of people within our parish boundaries, for example, making electric payments for families in danger of being disconnected.  We meet on a monthly basis.

Respect Life
Our parish is involved in the support of all human life and the education of the public regarding human life issues. This includes making our voices heard at the state and national level for the pre-born, the sick, the elderly and anyone who needs someone to speak out for them from the moment of conception until their natural death.  Parishioners are involved in the annual March on Washington and in legislative efforts to correct unjust laws and practices.

Thanksgiving Baskets
Thanksgiving food baskets are provided for the poor. These are filled with food donated by our parishioners and the children in our Religious Education program.

Christmas Giving Tree
Once a year, the Social Concerns Committee decorates trees with tags naming gifts for the poor.  Our parishioners buy the suggested gifts and return them to the parish to be distributed to the needy in our community.  Food baskets are also given to the families.
